Asics was built up in a severely hit Japan after the end of the Second World War in 1949. Many experienced this time as difficult, but founder Kihachiro Ontsuka wanted to give younger generations something to look forward to. Asics began producing shoes to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
The name Asics itself is an acronym of a Latin saying that in Swedish means "a healthy soul in a healthy body". Asics running shoes are often classified as the most functional on the market and their paddle shoes are no exception. Asics paddle shoes have been worn by, among others, Pablo Lima and Gemma Triay during their respective trip to the top.
